    This TOPSoccer Buddy Training is a one hour introductory course to prepare volunteers to work with players with disabilities.  This course guides the TOPSoccer Buddy in providing a fun growth experience for soccer players with disabilities. 
     A Buddy is paired with one youth athlete to assist with his/her soccer experience.  You will work with the coach to determine the Buddy's role on the field, guide the player physically, if necessary, on the field, encourage the player verbally, work towards the goal of player independence, provide positive encouragement to the player, and help to ensure a safe an fun experience for the player.  
     ***YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 12 YEARS OF AGE TO ATTEND THIS COURSE***
     

    Course Length:

    1 hour total-  classroom and  field work

    Course Times:

     Check In -             7:30am-8:00am
     Buddy Training    8:00am-9:00am
     Festival - 10:00am-1:00pm

    What to Bring:

     

    • Lunch will be served
    •Notepad and pen/pencil for classroom session
    •Properly inflated size 5 soccer ball
    •Appropriate soccer attire and comfortable training shoes for field work
    •Water/snacks, sunscreen lotion (optional), portable chair (optional)
