DESCRIPTION: The National Youth Coaching Course is designed to provide club directors of coaching, youth coaches, physical education teachers, and soccer administrators with the knowledge to successfully structure soccer environments for children aged 4-12.
Some of the topics that will be explored through the course include:
• The role of the coach as a facilitator
• The physical, mental and emotional needs and capabilities of players aged 4-12
• Lessons from developmental psychology
• The art of teaching
Candidates are videotaped for analysis during live training sessions.
Candidates must be 18 years of age and hold a USSF National "E" License. You may attend the course if you do not hold a "D" with written permission from your State Association Director of Coaching.

Check in will be on July 13th and check out on July 17th. Room will be shared with another coaching candidate. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided daily except for first night and the last day, which will include dinner only on July 13th and breakfast and lunch only on the 17th.

What is required to successfully complete the National Youth Coaching Course?
In order to complete the National Youth Coaching Course, candidates must:
1. Attend all field and classroom sessions
2. Submit Care and Prevention / Risk Management tests (group work)
3. Make presentations on Team/Risk Management (group work)
4. Complete a Practice Coaching Session (1 to 3 practice opportunity per candidate). Candidates are videotaped during this session. The sessions are then reviewed each evening by the staff coach and by fellow candidates.
5. Complete a Practical Coaching session (formal evaluation by the coaching staff)
6. Complete a Candidate's Philosophy of Coaching (take home)
7. Complete a take home examination on Coaching Methods
What should I expect from the course in terms of classroom or field participation? Each day features classroom lecture/discussion sessions and field sessions. Candidates are strongly urged to physically prepare for the course. There are no physical tests, but participation is enjoyable and a valuable way to learn through experience.
What is included in the course fee?
The course fee includes course administration, staff costs, material fees, t-shirt, and room and board.
Notebook, pens, any coaching manuals or books that you may have to assist you in planning your coaching sessions and preparing for exams. A ball, water bottle, several changes of soccer attire, cleats, flats, rain gear, sunscreen.
