Grade Designation and Discontinuation Announcements
U.S. Soccer will be changing the Grade 5 designation
from State Referee to National Candidate effective July 1, 2014. This change
will result in all State Referees being registered as Grade 6 and U.S. Soccer
will oversee the registration and selection of future National Candidates.
This
change results in U.S. Soccer clearly defining the Zone 2 referee population as
Grade 5 National Candidates and Grade 4 National Officials. This also means
that Zone 1 will now encompass Referee Grades 9, 8, 7 and 6.
U.S.
Soccer will also be discontinuing the Grade 12 designation effective July 1,
2014.
Again,
these requirements won't go into effect until July 1, 2014, but State Referee
Associations may implement them sooner if interested
Cal South SRC will start implementing these
changes immediately and therefore there will be no longer a clinic to upgrade
from grade 6 to 5. All grades 5 and 6
are consolidated into State referees.
